In honor of the fleeting season that is summer, and the undeniable atmosphere that comes with it, DJ’s Mensa & Royale offer up the latest edition of their famed Steppin’ Out mix series.
Not so much the precursor to the club this time around, Vol. 3 captures the two different vibes so characteristic of summers with your crew or your boo.
Mensa holds down all the classic R’n'B bangers remixed by the greats of the 90′s (Puffy, JD, Trackmasters, et al.) that includes any one of the following: those Biz Markie ‘Make The Music’ drums, a bombastic rap verse that may or may not be appropriate for the song, ‘producer’ collecting six figures for breathing on the track.
Ideal for days when you’re cruising the mall for ‘fits for tonight, checking the ball tournament or enjoying some BBQ & Thug Passion at the pool party.
Royale takes a more intimate approach with his side, selecting songs to play for the new ‘acquaintances’ you made post party, conversations in the driveway at 4am, and beyond. Take the side in as a whole and the message should be clear: someone’s trying to cut.
Shout out to the introduction of BET in Canada back in 1997, Da Mix Wednesdays on Much, and AM 530 Flava Street for the constant indoctrination of these tunes in our A/C’ed basements during our formative years.
