This past weekend was the birthday of the late great legendary Jam Master Jam. Big Jacks paid tribute to the trailblazing DJ with a throwback set spotlighting classic Run DMC tracks and other artists that came up under JMJ (ie. Onyx, 50 Cent, etc). RIP Jason Mizell.

Backroad Radio (in our opinion) is the most all around hip hop show in Toronto and this week’s episode is evidence of that. We went everywhere in the hip hop world from the present to the past, north south, east and west.

It’s been 20 years since the release of the classic movie Juice and we took time this week to commemorate the film and discuss our fondest memories of it. Well, another year in hip hop has come and gone and what a year it was. On the backroad radio show we’ve always strived to bring you the best from the underground to the household and we wanted to recap what we felt was a great year for hip hop music.
