Backroad Radio – Sept 10th, 2012

It seems like every other week we’re paying tribute to another one of the fallen soldiers in our community. With the news of legendary Oakland DJ, Matthew Africa passing last week, this one hit very close to home. Matthew was a homie of ours, a good friend and all around great dude. We connected through mutual friends and formed a bond through our similar nerdy musical interests. To honour the man and his legacy we paid our respects with a throwback set of west coast joints (lots of Bay Area bangers) and shared some of our personal experiences and fondest memories. His blog is still up where you can download his mixes and learn more about the man and his contributions,
HERE. RIP Matthew Africa, gone but never forgotten.

Chief Keef has put himself in the news in a big way over the past couple of weeks after his tweets regarding the death of a rival youth in Chicago. We discussed that entire situation, his feud with Lupe that spawned from this and the subject of leaving your digital finger print on line with today’s social media. We definitely want your two cents on this so peep the discussion and let us know.

With Gza coming to Toronto this week we also nerded out on some Wu Tang discussion with the classic debate of which solo Wu album is the best, from Meth down to Masta Killa. Basically we all agree to disagree here but all Wu Tang Stans should peep the convo and add on. Our answers might surprise you.

New music courtesy of Bozack and Royale including heaters from: Kanye (Clique), Slaughtahouse, A$AP Mob, Kendrick Lamar, Crooklin, Ace Hood, and so much more.
